Twitter Users Will Soon Be Getting a Warning If Their Tweet Reply Might Be Offensive and Hurtful

Twitter warning

Twitter users will soon be prompted when they reply to a tweet using “offensive language,” in an effort to clean up hurtful conversations on the social media platform, the company said in twitter update on Tuesday.

The users, while sending their reply, will be warned if their posts are similar to those posts which have been reported earlier and they will be requested to revise it.

In order to clean up hateful and abusive content which is policed by users flagging rule-breaking tweets, Twitter has long been experimenting with technology on the platform.

It is to be noted that Twitter’s policies do not allow users to target individuals with slurs, racist or sexist tropes, or degrading content.

According to its transparency report, the company had taken action against almost 396,000 accounts under its abuse policies and more than 584,000 accounts under its hateful conduct policies between January and June during 2019.
